The mixing principle is based on the free flow of material throughout a slowly rotating drum equipped with specially shaped scoops. The product material is fed in at the axis of the drum through an inlet funnel. The turning motion, assisted by gravity, gently redistributes the product randomly and directs the product towards the outlet of the drum, where an accumulation of product causes a back-flow and an additional mixing motion.
