In addition to our well-known Firefly spark detection systems, this year Orthos will exhibit a line of sample preparation equipment from our new partners Laarmann at the 2012 MHEA Bulk Handling Conference (Materials Handling Engineers Association).  You will be able to see examples of table-top Pulverisers, Mills, Crushers and Grinders.

Scheduled for 16-17th May 2012 at the Forest Pines Hotel Conference Centre in North Lincolnshire, the event will encompass keynote and plenary presentations, gala dinner and after dinner speaker entertainment.

Orthos are teaming up with Laarmann, our new partners for sample preparation equipment, for a UK tour in their mobile demonstration unit.

During the last week of February, personnel from Orthos and Laarmann will showcase the range of sample preparation and lab equipment.  The fully operational demo machines include a Jaw Crusher, Cutting Mill, Mortar Grinder, Sample Divider, Lab Wizz and Test Sieve.

If you are an engineer or manager involved in the handling/processing of loose bulk solids materials and powders (and you want to increase your power!) then the next SHAPA Knowledge Conference may be for you. 

Scheduled for Tuesday 5th October 2010 at Loughborough University’s Imago Holywell Park, the conference offers delegates an opportunity to hear about the latest regulatory issues, their interpretation and implementation and the latest ideas and thinking on different aspects of solids handling techniques from some of the foremost authorities in their fields. 

Ten punchy presentations in two streams during the day cover diverse topics such as explosion safety, ATEX/DSEAR conformance, improving productivity, batch and continuous mixing, conveying technologies and others.  Delegates may select the sessions that best suit their needs, with efficiency and economy at the heart of many of the presentations.  All will receive material from every session, whether individually attended or not. 

Focused discussion groups on the topics presented give a further opportunity to meet and learn from speakers and other delegates.  In addition there will be table top displays illustrating techniques and capabilities of a number of companies, including Orthos.

We’ll have info on all our powder processing and plant safety equipment/systems.

Automatic single-point, strip and cross-cut conveyor belt samplers in the Gustafson range are now available in the UK from Orthos, providing an extended series of dry material process samplers and related equipment for the widest range of applications.

This follows the acquisition of Gustafson Inc from Bayer CropScience by Sentry Equipment, the US process sampling specialist represented in Britain by Orthos, and the full integration of the new range with its Isolok® and DS-3 conveyor belt samplers.

Single point samplers in the range work at a fixed point in the product flow while the strip samplers effectively remove a strip of material from the product stream and cross-cut samplers take a sample from the complete cross-section of the product flow. The DS-3 sampler takes a product sample from a moving belt conveyor.

Suitable for use with both free and non-free flowing pellets, flakes, granules, grain, seed and powders, the samplers can be installed in screw, drag and pneumatic conveyors, gravity chutes and hoppers, bins, at the ends of conveyor belts and in fluid bed dryers. Most units are designed to capture a fixed volume of material.

Special models, including the Isolok Series, are particularly suitable for friable materials, food and pharmaceutical products. The strip samplers are mainly used in gravity applications such as chutes, hoppers, bins, air slides, mixers and blenders while the cross-cut samplers are ideal for use in vertical spouts and chutes.

Various materials of construction and the sealing mechanisms are offered, enabling the samplers to match an exceptionally wide range of operating conditions and products.
